University of Coimbra awards Research Fellowship



The University of Coimbra awards a research fellowship for the project “No Problem Has Solution: A Digital Archive of the Book of Disquiet” (reference PTDC/CLE-LLI/118713/2010).

Number of fellowships: 1

Type of activity: research, including the following tasks:
a) TEI encoding for all the fragments of LdoD Archive (Task 2 of the project);
b) Development of database and virtual community features for LdoD Archive (Task 4 of the project);
c) Programming of the functionalities of LdoD Archive according to the model defined by the research team (Task 4 of the project);
d) Design of the interface for LdoD Archive (Task 4 of the project);
e) Support for other tasks and activities of the project, including research assistance, organization of seminars, and writing reports.

Funding: Research Project funded by FCT / MCES through national funds (PIDDAC) and co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) through the COMPETE – Operational Programme for Competitiveness Factors (POFC).

Recipient of the grant: The recipient must hold a BA in Computer Science or Informatics Engineering or other related fields. Other areas of specialization may be considered as long as the applicant fulfils the project requirements.

Location: Faculty of Arts, University of Coimbra, Portugal.

Duration of the grant: Twelve months.

Renewal: Renewable for one year.

Method of selection: CV review and interview.

Selection and award criteria: CV review will have a weighting of 75%.

The selection committee will look for curricular elements that demonstrate specific knowledge or experience in all or some of the following areas:

  • Management systems for software configuration such as Git
  • Development of web applications with dynamic generation of content
  • Programming in Java
  • Native XML databases such as eXist or baseX
  • Programming with JavaScript
  • Development using Apache Cocoon framework
  • TEI, Text Encoding Initiative
  • XML Technologies, such as XSLT

The interview will have a weighting of 25%.
